CUCHILLA DIONISIO TERRANE
The Rocha project is the only gold exploration project in the Cuchilla Dionisio Terrane considered to be the rifted equivalent to
West Africa
formed during continental break up. The Cuchilla Dionisio Terrane is separated from the Nico Perez terrain to the west by the regional Sieera Ballena Fault. As with other granite-greenstone terranes in
Uruguay
and other parts of the world they are considered highly prospective for lode-gold mineralization.
Rocha
The Rocha project is located about 200km east of
Montevideo
or 500km to the San Gregorio minen site by road. Rocha hosts a several high angle NE trending silicified and mineralized shear zones with associated quartz-sulphide veining. The sulphide mineralogy at the Rocha prospect differs from others in the current OMI project portfolio as it hosts abundant abundant galena and arsenopyrite along with pyrite and visible gold. Host rocks are typical granite-greenstone terrane rocks including deformed granites and metasediments.
Mapping, soil and rock sampling chip sampling highlights strong correlation between Au, As, Pb, Cu and Sb. Ground magnetic surveys have been completed that also correlate well with areas of mapped silica-sulphide alteration and have helped define several targets ready for first pass drilling.
